Gratitude: It's Good for You!

I picked up a copy of LiveHappy Magazine when I was at the airport about a month ago - I was really really tired of reading about the same negative garbage over and over again, it's mentally exhausting. LiveHappy is self-explanatory magazine that is pretty jam packed with actionable tasks you can start immediately to start living a healthier and happier lifestyle.

Something I picked up on that actually surprised my yeah-right-like-that's-supposed-to-work attitude was the notion of gratitude. It's easy, free, and 100% good for you and the people around you.

Many Studies have revealed: Practicing gratitude really could make you live longer and better; there is a direct link between good health and giving thanks

The most critical component of gratitude is appreciation. Eastern Washington University Professor, Philip Watkins, Ph.D. says that, "appreciation can best be understood as when something increases in perceived personal value. Perceived value, and more importantly, increasing perceived value, is extremely important to gratitude."

Well there you have it! Evidence from a doctor!

Giving a shit = more appreciation = better perception of your own life = better life

Release Your Inner Badass

For those of you who feel like you are living life by going through the motions and not reaching your full potential, this book is just for you. You are a Badass by Jen Sincero is a mix between a gentle hug and a kick in the ass. I've never been the type of person who reads self-help books, or if I do it's in the comfort of my own home where I can't be labeled as 'weak' by society, but this book helped change my life.

You are a Badass is a refreshingly entertaining how-to-guide that will help identify and change self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop you from getting what you want. You only live once so might as well create a life you totally love and this book will help you do just that.

I'm not usually one for all that spirituality hoopla but Jen makes these taboo topics relatable and explains why they are so necessary in all of our lives. Sincero's book will help you love yourself, help create better relationships with the people already in your life, and help give you some motivation for getting out of your comfort zone.
